Privacy & safety
• Your city is shown on listings; never post your home address in listings or chat.
• Exact addresses are only shared during an authorized delivery step (future courier flow).
• Prefer public meetup points for local handovers when possible.
• Report suspicious users or listings from the Report button.
• Block users to stop offers and messages both ways.
• Delete your account anytime from Profile → Delete account. This removes your profile, ads, and personal data from Bekaar.
Introduction
Bekaar (“we”, “us”) operates a peer-to-peer barter marketplace mobile app in Pakistan. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your choices.

Information we collect
We collect the following when you use Bekaar:
• Account information: email address, username (display name), city, optional bio.
• Listing content: titles, descriptions, categories, photos you upload, and optional estimated value.
• Location: city you select and, if you allow it, device location used only to suggest your city (foreground only — not tracked in the background).
• Swap & chat data: offers, messages, ratings, and dispute reports connected to your account.
• Support requests: messages you send to our support team.
• App activity: basic event logs (e.g. listing created) used to improve the service.
• Device permissions: camera and photo library access when you choose to add ad photos.
How we use information
We use your information to:
• Create and manage your account.
• Show your listings and profile to other users.
• Match you with nearby ads and swap opportunities.
• Send verification and password-reset emails.
• Review listings and reports for safety and policy compliance.
• Provide customer support.
• Improve app reliability and prevent abuse.
What we share
Your public profile (username, city, bio, ratings) and active listings are visible to other Bekaar users.
We do not sell your personal information.
We use service providers (hosting, email, image hosting) to operate the app. They process data only on our instructions.
We may disclose information if required by law or to protect users and the platform.
Data retention & deletion
You can delete your account at any time from Profile → Delete account in the app. This removes your profile, ads, notifications, blocks, and support tickets, and deletes your login.
Active swap offers are cancelled when you delete your account. Chat messages may remain visible to the other participant.
Moderation reports and audit records may be retained where required for safety, legal, or dispute resolution purposes.
Your choices
You can browse some content without signing in. To post ads or swap, you need an account.
You can deny camera, photo, or location permissions; some features will be limited.
You can block users and report listings or profiles from the app.
Security
We use industry-standard security practices including encrypted connections (HTTPS) and Firebase authentication.
No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure. Use a strong, unique password and keep it confidential.
Children
Bekaar is not intended for users under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
Changes
We may update this policy. We will post the new version at this URL and update the “Last updated” date.
